Album Review:

The title of the new My Ruin album indicates that the lyrics and mood of the album will be spiritual and poetic yet harsh and heavy…a combination that has never failed Tairrie B yet!  If you have heard the former My Ruin album, “Speak and Destroy” this album will be what you expected and what you hoped for.

The top quality music is heavier and faster than in the former album and sounds more like the band playing live. There is also a touching prologue and epilogue which are spoken by Tairrie B.  These spoken parts frame the the rest of the album excellently.  This hard yet melodic music emphasises the emotional and often powerfully delicate lyrics and no listener can fail to be inspired by the beautiful and influential sound the tracks give out.

There are also traits of Tairrie B’s former bands, Tura Satana and noticeably Manhole, in this excellent album.  And it is the combination of the emotions, contradictions and melodies of Speak and Destroy with the strong messages and strong music of Manhole and Tura Satana that give this album the edge.

After listening to this album anyone will undoubtedly be desperate to see My Ruin live (hopefully on their upcoming UK tour!) to experience the power first-hand!
